There’s a time to reflect

and then there is a time to act.  I know all of you by now have heard about the terrorist attack at the finish line of the Boston Marathon this past Monday afternoon.  I know that I am not alone in the fact, that I can’t believe someone or brothers even, could ever do something like that to hurt and kill innocent people.  Those of you that know me, might remember I almost lost my leg in an automobile accident on May 11, 1995.  After many surgeries and months of rehab, I was finally able to walk un-assisted and that very next July 4, ran the Peachtree Road Race with my brother Brad.  It was the first time either of us had run it and it was truly an amazing experience.  My brother is a Marine and at that time he was in great shape and I was just really getting back into running shape.  He pulled me through that race, without him I don’t know if I would have finished; he even ran backwards some of the time, just to keep giving me encouragement.  I will never forget that race or how I felt after, knowing that I could finally run again.

3 people died as a result of the bombings Monday.  They will never run again!  And over 180 people were injured, some very seriously and  even lost limbs.  They may never run again.  That is why I want to run for them!  In a team effort, myself, my clients and some of my friends, are going to ‘collectively’ run a marathon this May 11, 2013.  18 years after I almost lost my leg, we will be running for those who did.

We have set up a website to collect donations for all those victims who were injured as a result of this horrific event and we are asking for your help.  All donations will go towards helping them with their medical bills.

Please go to:  http://www.gofundme.com/RUN4BOSTON and give what you can.  If you could also, forward this post to your friends and family, we would great appreciate it!  We have also set up a Facebook page:  https://www.facebook.com/pages/Lets-Run4Boston/508271539221146  dedicated to keep you to date on our Unity Run.

God Bless,R4B
